Goodnestone Park

Overview

Available to rent for the first time in its long and venerable history, Goodnestone Park is the much-loved family seat of Julian, 22nd Lord FitzWalter. Built by his ancestors in 1704 and lived in by the family ever since, the house was frequently visited by Jane Austen after her brother married into the family and reputedly inspired Pride and Prejudice.

The house has recently emerged from a dramatic restoration that took it down to its bare bones and the new incarnation is a sensational take on the original. A stunning drawing room overlooking the village cricket pitch, a formal dining room and well stocked library with early editions and a ‘chill out’ room for teenagers complement beautiful bedroom suites offering up to 24 guests the opportunity to experience quintessentially English gracious living at its best.
